Lawrie joined Virgin Australia as Chief Information Officer in February 2013. He has over 20 years’ experience in executive IT roles across airline, retail, telecoms and rail freight sectors. This includes being Project Director of two $200m programs implementing airline reservation and check-in systems, as well as being part of the lead team implementing the oneworld alliance.
As CIO at David Jones, Optus, Aurizon and now Virgin Australia his particular area of focus is driving transformational performance change in the IT function, especially in its partnership with the wider business. Lawrie’s roles have included work in London, Moscow and Dallas. Recently he was promoted to Group Executive Business Services, a new shared services organisation for Virgin Australia.
