Tunde Olanrewaju

McKinsey
Principal

Tunde Olanrewaju is a principal in McKinsey’s London office, where he also leads the UK Business Technology Practice. He focuses on serving financial institutions and social sector organisations on issues of strategy, organization, operations and technology.

In one recent project, Tunde worked with the board of a large UK company to review the performance and viability of one of its subsidiaries. This subsidiary was leveraging unique technology to compete in the foreign exchange space. His work involved conducting a deep review of its economics and technical capabilties, comprehensive analysis of the market and competitive context, consultation with investors, framing of strategic options and modelling of the economic implications. He also played a significant role in counselling the board on the best path forward, which has included changes to the ownership structure and focus of the subsidiary.

Other projects have included helping a leading eastern European retail bank to redesign its distribution, product development and marketing organisation from a product- to a customer-centric structure, advising on the development of group strategy for a top-three global bank, designing and leading a multi-year lean operations transformation across more than 35,000 staff for a UK Bank and supporting a major universal bank with a front-to-back re-engineering of its cash equities and equity derivatives businesses.

Tunde is also a leader of the BCSS—a network for black client service staff—committed to recruiting fair share of black talent to McKinsey and facilitating connectivity and mentoring relationships within the BCSS community and the firm.

Outside McKinsey, Tunde is a Trustee of the Africa Governance Initiative and a member of the Oxfam Association (the advisory board of Oxfam GB).

Tunde holds a degree in electrical and electronic engineering from Imperial College London, where he was a Lucent Technologies Global Science Scholar.
